This is a down to earth workshop about the principles of line arrays. The day demystifies the general knowledge of line arrays, bringing this technology into the right perspective and to the real world. Questions like why and when do I need to use a line array will be answered as well as the principles of designing loudspeaker setups utilizing the d&b ArrayCalc software.
Participants should be experienced in tackling sound problems and want to develop their knowledge of d&b systems with a special focus on the T-Series and V-Series line arrays. All participants should bring a laptop computer (WinXP or higher or MacOS X).
We introduce the participants to line array theory and the use of our ArrayCalc software that lets them plan line array setups as well as distributed subwoofer arrays. The participants will learn about T and V system specifics and will be instructed on how to use them safely for optimum results.
Line array theoryThis theoretical session explains the principles of line array systems and their behaviour in a refreshingly non-mathematical way. It strips away the 'mystery' that evolves around such systems and gives the participants a good understanding of the real-world workings instead.
ArrayCalcIn this session, we introduce the d&b ArrayCalc software that is used to design d&b line array systems and distributed subwoofer arrays. After a short explanation of the software, everybody will practice the array design process on their own computers.
T, V and sub array setup practice and listening sessionFollowing on from the line array theory session, participants will get the opportunity to listen and understand a number of different line array configurations.
We also demonstrate our directional system subwoofers on their own and within subwoofer arrays.
The workshop or seminar content is conveyed in a format that encourages the participants to play an active role, for example exchanging experiences or using practical examples.
